Hello and welcome.
I am Tara Watson, owner of Active Connected Communities
I am a leading practitioner in Active Travel programs for school communities, having worked with principals, parents and students for more than 12 years.
I have has worked closely with school communities to create effective travel behaviour change strategies that encourage more walking and cycling to school and lessen the school traffic and parking congestion.
My range of experience has included working with over 200 schools in Victoria, on projects across municipalities reaching thousands of families to encourage more walking and cycling on the journey to school.
I have developed and led travel behaviour change programs for the Victorian state government schools program as well as working with councils on new and innovative active travel projects in schools.
My unique approach working directly with children, parents and school communities have resulted in solutions designed and implemented by the community, with long term beneficial changes in travel behaviour.
In my three step approach we work together to create effective strategies that encourage active travel and lessen the traffic and parking congestion. Together we discuss the challenges experienced by families on the journey to school, design solutions and implement the actions.
My mission is to help children to become resilient, healthy and active through active travel. It is through my active travel work with school communities, that I seek to inspire with ideas and encourage action.
